Bodmin Neighbourhood Plan
Following the agreement by Bodmin Town Council to create a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Bodmin, the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group was formed to engage with the community and to implement the creation of a Neighbourhood Plan document.
The Chairman of this Steering Group is Councillor J P Cooper.
The Steering Group currently consists of the following Town Councillor Members:
- P Brown
- J P Cooper (Chairman)
- P T Cooper
- J R Gibbs
- P L G Skea
Seven independent formal representatives from the public will also be elected to sit on the Steering Group.
Please visit the meetings calendar for details of future meetings and engagement events.
The Bodmin Vision statement will provide a strategic context to the Neighbourhood Plan and the Neighbourhood Plan will, in turn, reinforce and develop those priorities in the statement which involve land use and development activity.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Councillor J P Cooper.
Or Visit the newly launched Plan Bodmin Website and let the Steering Group know what is important to you. Your views and feedback are so important to help make a success of this venture.

Public Consultations
Late in 2019, Bodmin Town Council began the preparatory work for the Bodmin Neighbourhood Plan. Progress on the Neighbourhood Plan was disrupted by the COVID 19 outbreak resulting in the postponement of the physical gatherings planned but, as lockdown began to ease the work has restarted.
Engagement with residents is a mandatory aspect of any Neighbourhood Plan and planning has begun on a programme of events and surveys to engage Bodmin residents and canvas opinions. A survey was commissioned in 2021 and the following themes and topics were used as a basis for the consultation with residents:
- Theme 1 – Business and Employment
- Theme 2 – Housing
- Theme 3 – Community
- Theme 4 – Climate Change and Future Sustainability
We had nearly 800 responses to this survey and can be seen in the information below.
Getting Started
As a first step, we wanted to collect resident feedback about these Themes and Topics, and specifically to understand the relative importance of the Topics. It is vitally important that residents and have their say.
Bodmin looks forward to facing new challenges and opportunities as we move to the “new normal”. The Neighbourhood Plan gives us an opportunity to move forward, as a community, to determine what we want Bodmin to be like in the years to come. We look forward to involving the community in the formation of the Neighbourhood Plan. Your input is key to the success of the Plan.
