Bem Investiture Shire Hall.

A beautiful day greeted Bodmin Resident, Chris Lock, who, as part of The King’s Honours list 2023, was chosen to receive a British Empire Medal.

Bodmin Town Council hosted the Investiture ceremony which took place on May 30th on Mount Folly. The medal was awarded and presented by King Charles lll representative, the Lord Lieutenant, Colonel Edward Bolitho OBE and Cornwall Council Chairman Pauline Giles and was attended by Bodmin Town Mayor, Councillor Philip Cooper and a number of dignitaries and invited guests.

Chris, a former fire fighter, received his BEM for his Tank Corps commemorative service in Belgium and for his tireless dedication in founding and establishing the Tank Memorial, Ypres Salient and the accompanying Tank Corps Garden of Remembrance, Belgium.

Bodmin Town Mayor, Philip Cooper said:

“It was an honour and a privilege to be able to host the Investiture for Chris in the heart of our town and I am delighted that Chris chose to receive his BEM in Bodmin, for the amazing work he has achieved.”
