Passmore Edwards

To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of John Passmore Edwards, Cornish journalist and philanthropist, there was a Tree Planting ceremony held on Friday 24th March at 2pm on the triangle of land at the top of Robartes Road. Our Deputy Mayor, Mike Barbery was joined by the Town Crier, who said a few words to mark the occasion. This was followed by refreshments at the Old Library, with a few words from the Old Cornwall Society. John Passmore Edwards provided money for 70 public buildings in Cornwall and London, including a free library in Bodmin, in the late 1800s.
