Mayors Christmas Message 2021

Dear Community of Bodmin

Christmas means different things to different people. For me, Christmas is a time for family and a time to reflect on the good and not so good things that have taken place during 2021.

This year has brought its challenges, but it has shown us the power of community, so I want to take this opportunity to congratulate everybody living and working in Bodmin for sticking together during the tough times associated with lockdown in the spring of this year.

Nevertheless, summer arrived, hope blossomed, and lockdown came to a gradual end. We all enjoyed getting back out into the community to meet friends and family and join in with the social events that Bodmin does so well. Late summer saw the Tour of Britain cycle race finish in Bodmin with a weekend of fine weather, allowing the soul of our dear old town to lift. On into November and what can only be described as the best remembrance parade in Cornwall. A fitting tribute to Bodmin’s proud regimental history.

Now as winter bites and the nights draw in, I would encourage people to rally around their family, friends and neighbours and provide them with the help and support that they may need so they are not on their own during the festive season

So, let us take on board the Christmas message of hope and work towards making our lives and our community a better place. Bodmin has such strength and depth of community togetherness, such that we focus this positive force on creating a prosperous future for all the residents of our town. We have shown we have the capacity to achieve great things together, as the reports from the Tour of Britain organisers confirmed “Bodmin has done its self-proud this weekend”. So, lets capitalise on this sprit that was so obvious to see in early September and all come together, working for a common goal of what’s best for Bodmin first and always.

Christmas is a very special time for us all. A time to reflect on a year passed and plan for the New Year ahead. A time to recharge your batteries and ready yourselves for the opportunities that lie ahead in 2022.

Merry Christmas from Jeremy & Nicola Cooper (Mayor & Mayoress of Bodmin)
