New Fencing on the Horizon.
(3 August 2010)

Planned new fencing to mark the boundary of the Sk8 Park and replace the existing 'tired' wooden fence sections will be installed in the coming weeks.
It is hoped that the new 'urban' look fencing panels will protect the tarmac from being eroded at the top of the park. It will also act to protect the wildflower meadow at the rear of the park which has in the past been used by bikes to create a trail leading up the embankment.
Meanwhile, the Sk8 park is awaiting the return of its Trojan Teenage Shelter which was recently removed for a paint respray.
Lighting and Teen Shelter Improvements Complete.
(19 April 2010)

Additional planned refurbishments in the form of a Trojan Teen Shelter and an second lighting column have now been installed at the Sk8 Park.
The new lighting column will compliment the existing column which benefitted from a new pair of floodlights last month to increase coverage of the park.

The Trojan Teenage Shelter (manufactured and supplied by Broxap) was provided in answer to the requests of Bodmin youth who chose the shelter particularly for its spacious seating area, flat seats and good rain protection from its perspex sides and large roof.
Skate Park Lighting Improvements Underway.
(18 March 2010)

A new pair of flood lights have now been installed on the existing lighting column at the Sk8 Park, set to the original timer, turning on automatically at dusk and off again at 10 p.m.
Repairs had to be made with a more robust specification due to damage caused by deliberate vandalism.
|
An additional lighting column is soon to be erected opposite the existing column, resulting in improved lighting conditions across both sides of the park.
Jump Box Installation Now Underway.
(18 December 2009)

The first of the Town Council's approved refurbishments for the town's Sk8 Park, a 1.2 metre high jump box, is currently being installed.
The jump box, supplied by Maverick Industries, is being positioned near the bottom of the Park, directly in
front of an existing quarter pipe ramp, allowing for a faster run up and exit into the quarter pipe.
Constructed from steel the jump box is currently being welded into shape on-site.
It has already been attracting interest from many of the town's skaters who prioritized the kit as part of a wish list and who will, no doubt, be keen to put this
impressive addition to the test once it is ready for use.

(14 December 2009)

Maverick Industries are planning to install the first of the Council approved refurbishments for the town's Sk8 Park in time for Christmas.
The new equipment, a jump box, was one of the items on a prioritized list requested by some of the town's young skaters.
Further equipment to compliment the Sk8 park, including a Trojan shelter and fencing - with the possibility of improved lighting - will be added to the park in the New Year.

Council Approves Sk8 Park Proposed Refurbishments
(20 November 2009)

At a Full Council Meeting on 19 November 2009, Bodmin Town Councillors approved recommendations for refurbishments to Bodmin's Sk8 Park.
The refurbishments, which include a new jump box, a Trojan teenage shelter and fencing to protect the park and the adjacent Priory Meadow were part of a list drawn up and
prioritized by a group of local skaters assisted by Youth Support Worker, Nina Thomas.
In addition to these items, it is hoped that the Sk8 Park will soon benefit from
improved lighting as necessary repairs to the existing light column are planned. Proposals for extra lighting are also being
drawn up.
Bodmin Town Council aims to have the new equipment installed in early 2010.

Sk8 Project - Proposed Refurbishments
(October 2009)

A Bodmin Sk8 Park proposal is being keenly considered by Town Councillors.
The proposal was presented by a group of young skaters at Bodmin Town Council’s Properties Committee in September.
Members were impressed by the commitment of the group and their local level of interest in social issues affecting the town.
Youth Support Worker, Nina Thomas, from the Chestnuts Centre for Young People attended the meeting and stated:
“To come away from a meeting like this with the genuine feeling that their opinions have been listened to and that progress may be made has given the group faith in this whole process”.
The Council has subsequently appointed a projects team to work closely with the group with a view to implementing some of their prioritised objectives.
