Opening times  Town Museum

The Town Museum houses a rich heritage of artifacts and collections that tell the story of Bodmin from the earliest times until around 1950.

Displays include a typical 'pre-electricity' Victorian Cornish kitchen, the indispensible Smith at a local forge, what life was like in Bodmin during the 1914-18 War period and more...

Opening times  Court Room Experience

The Courtroom Experience is a 30 minute re-enactment of the trial of Matthew Weeks for the murder of Charlotte Dymond.

In the very courtroom in which the trial took place, you will hear conflicting evidence.  Before the historic verdict is handed down, however, you are given the chance to act as the jury. You get to vote - guilty - or not guilty beyond all reasonable doubt...

Opening times  Camel Trail

Converted by Cornwall County Council, the Camel Trail is a popular walker's and cyclist's path tracing the bed of an old disused railway line. The path runs alongside the river Camel from Poley's Bridge to the Padstow Estuary, is level and can be used by wheelchair and buggy users.

The trail links the towns of Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin. It can be accessed at the Borough Arms (Dunmere Road) or at Scarlett's Well Road on the outskirts of Bodmin.

Opening times  Military Museum

Recording the events from the capture of Gibraltar in 1704 to World War II, this acclaimed Military Museum is based on the history of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.

Visitors will be treated to a fine display of military weapons, medals, coins, uniforms, insignia and pictures. Facilities include a shop, toilets, car parking, light refreshments and wheelchair access to some public areas.

Opening times  St Petroc's Church

The parish church of St Petroc is the largest Grade 1 listed church in Cornwall.

Features include a 12th century Bodmin Casket believed to contain the relics of St Petroc and a beautiful 'closed' churchyard.

Medieval coffin stones, crosses, the adjacent St Thomas's Chapel (built 1377), a Well House and St Guron's Well are also of interest.

Opening times  Bodmin Jail

Built in 1778, Bodmin Jail was once the County Prison, notorious for its cramped conditions and public hangings, the last of which took place in 1909.

Today, Bodmin Jail is open to the public as a museum. Exhibits include re-creations of notable prisoners with details of their crimes and the sentences they faced. This historical attraction also has a bar, restaurant and gift shop on site.

Opening times  Steam Railway

Typical of a branch line you would find in the 1950's, the Bodmin and Wenford railway is Cornwall's only standard gauge section of track still used by steam locomotives.

The railway which uses Bodmin General as its main station caters for a variety of different train experiences and special events. The line itself runs both north to Boscarne Junction near to camel trail and south to Bodmin Parkway station linking it with the main rail network.
